Course-level Outcomes
1. Describe the basic chronology of European history 1900-1945, and identify the key social, political, and cultural “turning points” of the period
2. Discuss the major changes in European culture, politics, and society from 1900 to 1945
3. Explain the causes and consequences of important events in that period, including World War I, the rise of fascism and communism, World War II, and the Holocaust
4. Analyze and evaluate the significance of these events using historiographical debates covered in the course
5. Analyze and interpret a variety of historical sources, including photographs, diaries, political manifestos, propaganda posters and films, newspaper articles, and legal documents;
6. Identify, research, and report on a topic specific to 1900-1945 European history.

HIST 3721 is an undergraduate-level history course in which learners study European history from the turn of the Century to the End of WWII. Learners engage in scaffolded inquiry throughout the course, culminating in a digital story on a primary source topic.
The digital storytelling assignment provides learners with the opportunity for a sustained investigation into a topic that
- requires independent research,
- requires self-regulation by the learner,
- fosters media and ICT literacy in the process,
- and that creates a polished product.
Together, this assessment not only creates an engaging learning opportunity but additionally fosters multiple life and career skills.
