Designing for Active Learning

When designing or redesigning a course to increase active learning and a more personalized learning experience, it is helpful to see the active learning scaffolds in relationship to the weekly activities that introduce new content and regular practice. It is important to understand that the lower levels of learning more closely follow the modular structure of disciplinary conten whereas a more open inquiry runs parrallel to these activities.

The Module Alignment Document assists instructional designers in tracking both the more structured mode and the the open inquiry scaffolds next to one another so that they can compliment one another.
